18 Hole Ladies Tournament Descriptions

Best 9 – Each player records her gross score on each hole.  When the round is finished, the lowest nine gross scores are added, and 50% handicap is deducted.

Blind Holes – The winning score is based on only 9 holes selected by the Golf Shop after all players have left the first tee.  Players report their gross scores for the selected nine holes.  50% handicap is deducted for net scores.

Blind Partners – Players make their own foursomes.  Partners are drawn after the last group has teed off.  A player does not know her partner until she has finished the round.  Players keep their hole by hole net score.  Winner is the team with the lowest net better-ball score.

Bridgeman Best Ball of Foursome – (Drawn)  The 18 hole round is divided into three six-hole segments.  Applying handicap strokes to each hole, the players use the one best-ball per hole on holes 1-6, two best balls on holes 7-12, and three best balls on holes 13-18.

Chicago System – Each player is given a point quota, based on her handicap.  Points are scored:  Bogey = 1, Birdie = 4, Par = 2, Eagle = 8.  The player whose point total for 18 holes most exceeds her point quota (or comes closest) wins.

Criers – Best 15 holes out of 18.  Player throws out 3 worst holes.

Drawn Arizona Scramble – Four players are a team (A,B,C,D).  All team members tee off.  Select best shot, all team members hit second shot, select best shot, etc. until ball is holed out.  Each player hits every shot.  Everyone putts.  Each player must select 2 drives.

Drawn 4-Ball – Four players are a team (A,B,C,D).  Players apply their handicap strokes to each hole.  The lowest gross and net score on each hole is recorded as the team score.

Drawn Manning Low Ball – Four players are a team.  Cards will be stroked at 95% handicap.  The two lowest net scores are recorded for each hole.

Drawn 1-2-3 – Players (A,B,C,D) apply their handicap strokes to each hole.  Record the best team scores as follows:  one score on par 5’s, two scores on par 4’s, and three scores on par 3’s.

Drawn Two-Ball – Partners will be drawn, each twosome will be combined into foursomes.  Each player applies her handicap to each hole.  The best ball of the twosome will be scored on each hole.

Even Front/Odd Back – Scores on the even-numbered holes on the front nine and odd-numbered holes on the back nine are added and 50% of the player’s handicap is subtracted.

Four-Ball Championship – (Drawn)  Four players are a team (A,B,C,D).  36 holes stroke play.  Net better ball of 4.  Final round pairings will be determined by net score from the first round.  Leaders will tee off last.  (Trophy Event)

Green & Gold – Entire field will be divided into two teams according to handicap, a Green Team and a Gold Team.  Two members of each team will be in each foursome.  The lower “Green” handicap player will play a 3 point Nassau against the lower “Gold” handicap player, in each foursome.  The higher “Green” handicap player will play a 3 point Nassau against the higher “Gold” handicap player, in each foursome.  One point will be awarded for the best “front”, the best “back” and the best match score.  After all matches are completed, team points will be totaled and prizes will be awarded to each member of the winning team.

Invitational – Local private clubs are invited.  ERCC members are drawn to play with members from other courses.  Team event determined by Chairladies.  Cost includes entry fee, breakfast foods, lunch and cart.

Long Beach Four-Ball – (Drawn)  Each team has an A,B,C & D player.  Scoring is based on 1 point for each net Bogey made by each team member, 2 points for each Par, 3 points for each net Birdie, 4 points for each net Eagle and 5 points for each net Double Eagle.

Mixed Two Ball – Players choose their own partners.  Best net nine of the twosome on the front nine.  Better net score of the twosome on each hole of the back nine.

Member-Guest – A member may invite between 1-3 guests.  Tournament of the day is chosen by the event chairladies.  Lunch and entry fee are included in the cost.  Cart use is mandatory.

Mystery Throw Out – The Tournament Committee will select three holes which will not count in each player’s total score.  One par 3, one par 4 and one par 5 will be eliminated.

Pick Your Partner – Choice 9’s – Players record their gross scores, minus their allotted 9 hole handicap on each side.  Team score is the better net 9 hole score for the front nine plus the better net 9 hole score of the back nine.

Pick Your Partner - “Mixed Bag” – Players choose their own partner.  Hole numbers 1-6 are played better ball of two, hole numbers 7-12 are played selected drive, alternate shot, hole numbers 13-18 are played as a scramble.

Pick-Your-Partner - 2-Ball – Players choose their own partner.  Players apply their handicap strokes to each hole.  Better ball of two.

Pick Your Putting Partner - Players choose their own partner. Each team records total putts per round. Putts are defined as strokes taken on the green. Prizes will be awarded to best scores in total field (no classes). Ties will be broken by lowest putts on #8 and on #18.

President’s Cup – Match play elimination tournament with handicap.  Sign up is on an individual basis.  Deadlines for play of each round are set by the committee.  A “ladder” of matches is posted in the Golf Shop and Ladies Locker Room.  Players are responsible for scheduling their matches with their opponent by each due date.  (Trophy Event)

Scorefest – (Drawn)  Individual net scores over 100 = 2 points; net scores 90-100 = 5 points; net scores 85-89 = 10 points; net scores 80-84 = 15 points; net scores 75-79 = 25 points; net scores 70-74 – 40 points; net scores under 70 = 75 points.  Highest total team score wins.

Stableford – Players score the following points for each net:  1 = Bogey, 2 = Par, 4 = Birdie, 6 = Eagle, 8 = Double Eagle.

Team Criers - (Drawn) Team records best net ball of four on each hole. The three worst holes of the round will be thrown out.

Tombstone – Each player is supplied with a sign marker in the shape of a tombstone.  As each player completes the number of strokes equalizing par of the course plus her handicap, she leaves her marker at that place on the course.  Players with strokes left after 18 holes start out again on 1st tee, playing until all their strokes are used up.  Players advancing markers greatest distance are winners.  Markers may be placed next to greens, not on them.

Two-Day Ringer – One 18 hole round will be played each day.  Players record gross hole by hole scores.  After each round those scores will be transposed to a Ringer Sheet.  The Ringer score will be determined by taking the better hole scores of the two rounds less handicap.
